Breast Cancer Diagnosis

  1. If the cancer is found to be localized, the patient will need a mastectomy followed by breast reconstruction. If the cancer has spread to other parts of the body and organs (metastasized), then chemotherapy will be required.
  2. If the cancer is hormone receptor, hormone therapy is usually used.
  3. Radiation therapy is usually given after surgery to reduce the chances of the cancer returning to the breast.
  4. Chemotherapy can be given before or after surgery. It involves the use of anti-cancer (cytotoxic) drugs to kill cancer cells.

Treatment of Breast Cancer

Breast cancer treatment will depend on several factors, including
